It’s been quite a while since this New York Skin Solutions started bugging me… calling almost twice a day! I even told them that I’m not interested with their services but they keep on pursuing me and telling me that I should give it a try since its just a free consultation and facial treatment. Since I’ve read bad reviews about them, I haven’t answered any phone calls from their number but my gosh, they are also using another number and there are times that a “private number calling” appears! When a “private number calling” shows, I have no choice but to answer since I’m hoping that it’s my inlaws. But to may dismay, it’s New York Skin Solutions!
To stop them from pestering me, I then finally gave in… I went to the ‘free consultation + facial treatment’. On my way there, I was having second thoughts since I wasn’t sure if I could say NO to any of their offers or if I could go out of their clinic without shedding any cent!
When I walked in, I was greeted by their receptionist and was asked to wait for a moment… I immediately texted Alvin and told him that my skin looks better compared to their receptionist’s!
And then I was brought to the consultation room and was asked to fill out some forms… then came the skin consultant. My skin was analyzed using a machine that magnifies the skin; I was told that my skin is starting to age… there are some fair lines and that I have some white/black heads on the nose area. And then the sales talk! My gosh, she was selling me a package that costs $1,190 for 10 treatments! She told me that the original price of that is more than 3K! Whaaat??? She told me that their products are natural acne treatment; organic and safe for the skin! But I don’t think I can shed that amount of money for my skin. Honestly, I don’t have a problematic skin… I told her that I need to consult my husband regarding this. I called Alvin and asked him for a good excuse: tell her that you need to consult your dermatologist prior to any treament since you have a sensitive skin. I even told her that I don’t want their free facial treatment anymore! But she told me that I couldn’t go home and should finish the facial treatment… Ok.
And then, I was guided to the treatment room to have the facial and then she worked on half of my face to show me difference but I honestly told her that I don’t see any difference at all.
That time, I wasn’t able to relax since I know that they would insist their offers/promotion again before allowing me to go home.
After the treatment, I was bugged again! This time, she told me that I can pay it in an installment manner or buy their 300 voucher for 6 treatments. As usual, I said no again and look for another excuse! Mind you, she even called her manager… and then same explanation over and over again! When she told me that I could pay $100 for two treatments; I then agreed. It’s seems that I didn’t have a choice and I couldn’t go home without paying anything!
Lesson learned: there’s no such thing as free!
