SM Prime expands Cebu mall |

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. the mall development unit of Shoemart on Wednesday said it expanded its SM City Cebu with the opening of a new annex. The new wing has a gross floor area (GFA) of 107,049 square meters, which will make SM City Cebu the largest mall in the Visayas and the fourth largest mall in the country.
“This attests to our optimism about Cebu’s bright future and its unquestionable role as the center for trade, business and tourism in the Visayas region. It enjoys many natural attractions ranging from its rich history, culture, excellent beaches and dive destinations. As such we honor the place with this significant expansion of SM City Cebu,” said Hans Sy, president of SM Prime Holdings Inc.
With the expansion, this brings the company’s total gross floor area (GFA) to 268,611 square meters. Earlier this month, SM Prime opened SM City Taytay and SM Supercenter Muntinlupa. Next year, the company is scheduled to open three new malls and expand two existing ones, adding 242,000 square meters of gross floor area to its nationwide chain of shopping centers.
By the end of 2008, SM Prime will have 33 malls nationwide.
